Victoria Multicultural Commission's Award

Ballarat wins State Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs

The City’s Ballarat Migration Project has been hailed as the States benchmark after winning the Victorian Multicultural Commission’s Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs at a gala function, held at Government house by the Governor of Victoria on December 8 2006.

The Council’s Economic development Unit “Ballarat Migration Project” received the successful nomination for producing three 30 second commercials in co-laboration with WIN Television.  Two commercials focused on skilled migration in the work place and the third focused on families in our community.

The objective of the commercials was to raise community awareness regarding the benefits of skilled migration, and to embrace multiculturalism within the local community.

The award presentation, in Melbourne, recognised individuals and organisations from across Victoria for outstanding service to the state’s multicultural community.
