Regional Business Costs
The City of Ballarat is currently participating in a state-wide benchmarking exercise which compares the cost of doing business in regional Victoria with the cost of doing business in metropolitan Melbourne.
The Economic Development Unit is co-ordinating Ballarat's participation in this project and is pleased to be a part of this very important exercise, and to be an active participant with the Victorian State Government's strategy to encourage businesses to relocate and expand into provincial cities and regional Victoria.
The project will examine qualitative and quantitative business costs for key industry sectors; and include costs such as labour, infrastructure, utilities, transportation, communications, services and liveability. The key outcomes of this project will include regional city profiles, industry profiles, case studies, indices and analysis. The overall outcome being the attraction and retention of business and industry in regional Victoria.
Ballarat is a leading provincial city in Victoria, and through participation in this benchmarking exercise, the Ballarat City Council continues to demonstrate and reaffirm its commitment to building on our regional strengths, attracting new investment, creating a more competitive environment and strengthening our regional economy.
