Industrial Land Use Strategy
In August 2005, the Ballarat City Council adopted the new Industrial Land Use Strategy, which was prepared by consultants Connell Wagner. The Strategy makes an assessment of likely future demand for industrial land in Ballarat, and recommends locations where this demand could be accommodated.
The strategy proposes that :
land adjacent to the Western Freeway, north of Ballarat be rezoned to Industrial1 Zone
an investigation into the potential for development at the Ballarat Aerodrome be carried out
number of precincts within Ballarat which are currently zoned "Industrial", be rezoned to either a "Residential" or "Mixed Use" Zone. These proposed changes acknowledge the conflict created by small pockets of industrial land in otherwise residential areas.
Amendment C88 seeks to incorporate the proposed changes into the Ballarat Planning Scheme.
