Ballarat has a long history of encouraging export, export readiness and promoting export capability of the region. Currently, 27% of Ballarat businesses and industry actively export their products and services to overseas markets.
The City of Ballarat is committed to the cultivation and growth of international relationships which promise to deliver investment and export opportunities to the local and regional business communities. In particular, Ballarat has formed a number of significant partnerships with India, which have already had a number of tangible outcomes.
Ballarat recognises that exporting is a profitable means for business expansion and reducing dependence on the local market. Furthermore, through exposure to overseas businesses through trade relationships, Ballarat businesses are improving their ability to compete in the domestic marketplace. Those Ballarat businesses involved in export, have reaped other benefits including better growth prospects, better skilled staff, more productive staff, better training and career development opportunities, and a tendency to adapt new technologies and best practice techniques faster.
